Virginia with its beautiful countryside, history, wineries, and wide range of outdoor activities, unquestionably is a “must see” place on everyone’s check list. Charlottesville itself is a home to the nationally acclaimed University of Virginia, founded in 1825 by then-Charlottesville-resident Thomas Jefferson. This unique city includes numerous historical sites situated in one of the most beautiful areas in the country. Not far from Charlottesville’s downtown area, you can tour homes of ex-presidents Thomas Jefferson, Woodrow Wilson, and James Madison.
 
Charlottesville is situated within the upper Piedmont Plateau approximately 120 miles southwest of Washington D.C. and 70 miles northwest of Richmond, Virginia.
